Headteachers

Mr. Joseph Flower Birt 1826-1829. Born in Gloucester in 1797 he married Elizabeth Ford in 1824. They had two children Elizabeth and Sarah Anne, both born at the school. 

Mr. John Wortley 1829-1854 Born in Ludham in 1795 he married Charlotte Parslee in 1827 they had one son Robert in 1841. Charlotte died in 1850.

Mr. John Elden 1854 – 1877 Born in Aylsham, was incredibly only 18 at the time of his appointment. He lost his job when the school was expanded as he was not a certified teacher.

Mr. William Elliot Amies 1877-1913 Mr Amies became the schools longest serving retiring after 35 years. Born in Bacton in 1848 he married Louisa Brummage in 1870 and they went on to have 11 children, many of whom also went into teaching.

Girls School

Miss Louisa Allen 1877-1879 (no information found)

Miss Emily Brett 1879-1881. Born in Downham in 1859 Miss Brett was 20 when she took up her post. She lodged with the Woods family at Laburnum Cottage Upper Street.

Infant School

Miss Rebekah Jane Maguir 1878-1878 No information can be found. However she did not retain her post for long as there appears to have been a difficulty over her qualifications so she was dismissed.

Miss Mary Balle 1879-1882 born in 1860 in Montacute Somerset. She lived with her widowed mother in Lower Street.

Miss Inez Trollope 1882-1885 born in Syderstone in 1861

Miss Harriet Louisa Tilney 1894-1897(no information found)

Miss Naomi Bent 1897-1925 served at the school for 28 years Miss Bent was born in1863 in Leicestershire. She was 62 when she retired. She appears to have lodged with the Watson family at Rectory Farm Antingham for her whole time at the school.

Mixed School

Mr. Hector Percy Jones 1913-1938 born in Aberdare Glamorgan in 1878. He married Maud Eliza Hough in 1902.

Mr. Thomas F. Dack 1938-1945 born in Walsingham in 1908 he married Margaret Hibbert 1934. They had two children surviving children.

Mr. John Robinson Hare 1945-1969 born 1904 in Shadlow he married Mena Holiday in 1929 they had two sons.

Mr. Harold Gladwin 1969-1980 born in Stockwell in 1920 Mr Gladwin was the last headmaster to live in the school house, moving into Kimberley, Bradfield Road Antingham
