Today is tomorrow's history

The History Hub

The History Hub is the name given to the physical archive of the Southrepps Society and the name of the Society’s web site.  The web site, set up in 2024 uses data abstracted from the archive and links to other sources of historic information originating in Southrepps.  The objective is to broaden the awareness of all aspects of the history of the village, both ancient and modern and to extend an invitation to visitors to the site to add their contributions to this ever-growing collection.

The physical archive contains a large collection of photographs, documents, maps, and artifacts covering Southrepps people, places, the church and chapel’s, farms, and historic businesses.  Selections from the archive are presented on the web site with commentaries prepared by members of the Society.

This will allow us to represent all aspects of village life from time gone by to the present day. If you find a photograph of yourself or relative that you would prefer not to be in the public domain, please contact us via our contact form and we will remove if within 30 days.

The site is likely to be of interest to anyone who lives in or has lived in the village with family connections to past residents.

The website has been set up and is managed  by volunteers. All contributions to it will be acknowledged and moderated before acceptance but inclusion in the archive and the web site is not guaranteed. This web site is not a village information point or events calendar.  The Southrepps village website is https//southrepps.online.  That  site, which is supported by the Parish Council includes notices of forthcoming events, links to other village organisations and information about the village hall including details for making a booking.

If anyone would like to view the physical material or bring in a contribution to be copied, or just come and talk to us, the History Hub is open on the second Thursday of the month in the village hall from 2-4. We would be delighted to see you.
